Red chili peppers and broccoli can help fight cancer

Two recent studies conducted by scientists at the University Of Pittsburgh School Of Medicine, have found that some common foods may slow down or even prevent the growth of various cancers.

The first study looked at capsaicin, an ingredient in red chili pepper that acts as an antioxidant. Researchers found capsaicin showed cancer fighting activity against pancreatic cancer.

A second study examined the therapeutic benefits of phenethyl isothiocyanate (PEITC), a compound found in vegetables like broccoli, on ovarian cancer.  After ovarian cancer cells were exposed to PEITC for 24 hours, researchers found the growth of ovarian cancer cells was significantly inhibited.
