Headaches
and your diet
Having a glass of red wine with a great meal is
a treat for many people. And after dinner, piece of chocolate cake makes a
delicious dessert. However, for some people the wine and chocolate may be the
cause of headaches. Certain foods are known to be associated with headaches.
They include:
·
Caffeine
·
Alcohol
·
Tyramine - Found in red wine, beer, aged cheese, nuts and chocolate,
among other foods.
·
Tannins
- Found in foods like apple juice, blackberries, coffee, tea,
chocolate and red wine.
To find out if a particular
food is causing your headaches, try this:
·
Eliminate
that food from your diet for two weeks,
·
Repeat
this process again and again.
·
If
the headaches come and go with the elimination and reintroduction, you may want
to check with a health professional.
